Sanad Charity Kitchen: A hot meal reaches the tents of our people in Gaza
10/20/2026
In short: The Sanad Charity Kitchen is operated by the Sanad Relief and Development Association within the Gaza Strip. Our team prepares and packages meals, then delivers them directly to displaced families, those affected by the crisis, and the elderly—right to their tents. During the third quarter of 2026 (July–September), the kitchen prepared and distributed 2,930 cooked meals—all made possible through donations from individuals like you. In a tent with no kitchen and no fuel, a hot meal becomes more than just food. It represents a day that passes for the family without them having to ask: "What will we eat?" Why is a hot meal important right now? The improvement in the nutritional situation in Gaza remains fragile. According to an assessment by the UN-supported Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), more than 1.2 million people in Gaza—approximately 59% of the population—experienced acute food insecurity between mid-April and the end of June 2026. The assessment projects that this number will rise to about 1.4 million people by December 2026. The assessment indicates that most households still lack sufficient food consumption. The majority of the population lives in tent camps and relies on humanitarian aid. In a tent, the very act of cooking becomes a burden for many families. That is why we do the cooking and deliver ready-to-eat meals directly to their doorsteps. How does the Sanad Charity Kitchen operate? The kitchen operates within the Gaza Strip through the Sanad field team, in collaboration with volunteers from the local community. Each meal goes through four stages: 1. Purchasing ingredients: We source ingredients from merchants within Gaza 2. Cooking and packaging: The team prepares nutritious, cooked meals, which are then packaged to ensure they arrive clean and hot. 3. Selecting beneficiaries: We follow established criteria, such as family size and the presence of orphans or individuals with medical conditions. Volunteers and community committees verify these cases on the ground. 4. Delivery to tents: We deliver meals directly to displaced and affected families, as well as to the elderly, right at their tents. Priority is always given to those displaced in tents, female-headed households, children, and the elderly. Assistance is provided solely based on need, without any discrimination.
